东岸时间3月5日：总数233，看起来不很多，但涨幅在迅速扩大，西雅图和纽约越来越严重。西方人没经历过非典，而这次中国的惊心动魄，他们作为旁观者也完全难以感同身受。所以说，这个作业的答案中国给写好了，放在那里公开，他们也抄不对——实际上是压根就不想抄，也没那个魄力去自断双臂止损。按东岸时间顺序简单记叙一下，最后是我的一点看法和推测。2.28 周五：那时候似乎还没太大问题，看起来有五六十例，但多是游轮上回来的或撤侨的。看一些帖子说美国去年的大流感里很可能隐藏着肺炎，我基本上嗤之以鼻……因为在当时看来美国压根就没有这个疫情。那几天之前就想去买点口罩的，发现附近所有的Home Depot早空了，其实都是被自己同胞买空的，因为老外的文化决定他们不怎么用口罩。想买口罩不是因为美国当时有疫情，而是因为那几天韩国、意大利、伊朗开始严重了，我觉得美国如果不学习中国的措施做入境隔离，可以100%确定会传过来。我一开始是认为纽约、加州会成为爆发点，结果没想到西雅图先爆了。2.29 周六：严重性明显上了一个层次，可能因为这天西雅图出现了一例死亡。美国物理学年会本来是3/2-3/6在丹佛开的，这天晚上突然紧急通知，一万人的会取消了。很多人措手不及，有的甚至飞机刚在丹佛落地。我当时还觉得committee是不是有点过激了，现在来想，这个决定做得真是相当有魄力、有远见！比政治家务实得多。3.2 周一：一个周末的时间确诊数涨了50%，明显感觉到美国人开始重视了。因为大周一上午，沃尔玛车来车往，说明人们都开始囤货了。这时候我去翻了翻New York Times以及Washington Post这些主流媒体，发现头条基本都是关于coronavirus的了（之前美国媒体对这个的报道其实不很多——也会报，一般人也知道这事，但大概就像我们对蝗灾的态度似的吧，有点事不关己，对普通美国人来说，大选的事才是头条）。3.3 周二：是美国大选的Super Tuesday，所以3.3-3.4这两天coronavirus和大选能平分媒体头条。疫情关注度上升主要是因为“社区传播”真正开始了：以前的确诊病例都是外部输入性的，隔离即可，没太大严重性；但这几天出现的都是实打实的干货：好多确诊者都无旅行史、密切接触史，说明是在生活中被传染的，那么其实发现了1个，后面就可能有5个。3.3号我们这个州出现第一例，所以当天下午中国超市里全是人，很多人成箱地买方便面。老外的超市就没那么挤，因为华人都深知这事的厉害，美国人则只是从新闻上马马虎虎知道点——他们也会囤东西，但跟来飓风的时候囤东西性质类似。3.4 周三：我看一亩三分地上的实时更新，就发现确诊数目已经好几天大幅上涨了，虽然总数也就一百六，但依照我们对武汉、湖北、全国过去两个月的了解，这个上涨速度如果没有政府强力介入，后面将是爆炸性的。而且，依照普通美国人的那点警惕性，很多人有轻症大概也不会去查，进而加速传播。3.5凌晨的几点看法和推测：1、美国这个国家跟中国还是有点不同的，毕竟地广人稀，所以我感觉纽约这类大城市一定很危险，但州里小地方上如果重视起来，也许能survive。看一下各国人口密度：韩国是每平方公里529人，日本347，英德意200多，伊朗50，俄罗斯加拿大不到10。中国是147，但实际上都在东部一半的区域里，所以大致得按300算。而美国多少呢？——35，而且人口在全国的分布还算均匀。所以普通大农村其实地广人稀，走在外面一点事没有，也没地铁，出门开车，需要注意的是办公室和超市。然而纽约这样的国际中心，人口密度大，各国人口往来频繁，可以说是控不住的，他们市长也都直说了。除非封机场、封地铁、封城，但这是不可能的。西雅图作为这次的epicenter则很有成为武汉的趋势。2、从政客的反应看，1月份湖北省有的问题（遮遮掩掩，“有限人传人”，“可防可控”），美国的“领导”们基本一个不落——这还是建立在有中国的前车之鉴的前提下。特朗普从一开始到现在都是极力去淡化这个肺炎的严重性，禁口疾控中心，想避免恐慌——股票暴跌一周直接关系他的政治前途。其实想想也是，这事搁在谁身上他也不敢自断双臂学中国封城啊，——代价太大了，特朗普不敢，纽约市长也不敢。人性总是这样，总要等到被打得满地找牙的时候才开始认真对待——哪怕已有中国的答案可借鉴，比如伊朗就是个例子，一开始也是嘴硬表示不封城，这两天被打得不服不行，开始学中国了。3、美国人的认识似乎比欧洲人强点，但依然很不足，真正紧张兮兮的还是华人。我看知乎帖子里关于意大利、瑞士等的情况，很多答主抱怨那些国家的同事完全不在乎肺炎这事，认为就是个大号流感。美国人的重视度好像高点，但依然有限。今天看公众号里说西雅图华盛顿大学的华人学生都呼吁停课，但校长认为完全没必要……中国人经历了春节这一波，深知严重性；而他们大概还傲慢地以为中国政府傻吧，以为伟大的美利坚民主可以轻松搞定这事。4、天气转热后可能有改善。虽然现在没有明确证据说高温、潮湿气候会有助于疫情缓解，但实际上我们看一下各国情况会惊奇发现，热带国家的确没有一个大爆发的。这里暂不探讨新加坡、越南是否真的是因为管控得当，事实确实是：处在爆发期的国家（法、德这几天也开始爆发了）没有一个是热带的。
